How we decide what to publish, where our facts come from, and how we handle brands, sponsors and mistakes.
Facts come from primary sources
- We check facts against the original source: the manufacturer’s own pages and official store, regulatory filings such as the FCC, crowdfunding campaign pages, and code we can read ourselves, like official firmware and slicer repositories.
- We don’t rewrite other news sites. If a claim can only be supported by another outlet’s report, we leave it out.
- Prices come from each brand’s official store. Buyer Signal, our price tracker, shows when each price was last checked.
Facts and opinions are kept apart
Guides and comparisons stick to facts. When Mike shares an opinion, in a video or an article, it’s clearly his own view, and it’s never written by AI. You can read exactly how we use AI.
Rumors and leaks
Every entry on our upcoming printers list is labeled by how certain it is, from a rumor to a confirmed launch, and links to its evidence. We don’t publish a rumor we can’t support with a source you can check.
Brands, sponsors and review units
- Mike has worked with many of the brands we cover. Assume we may have a past or current relationship with any brand on the site.
- Brands don’t see, edit or approve our articles before they’re published.
- Sponsored content is labeled as sponsored at the top of the page.
- If a brand sent us the product we’re writing about, we say so in the article.
- Some links may be affiliate links, which earn us a small commission at no cost to you. They’re always labeled. See our affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and update the article’s date. For a correction that changes the meaning of an article, we add a note saying what changed. To report an error, email corrections@tinkersignal.com with the page address and what’s wrong.
