What we collect
- Your email address, if you sign up for the newsletter. It is stored with our email provider, Kit (ConvertKit), and used only to send the newsletter.
- Messages you send us, such as emails, so we can reply.
- Usage information collected automatically, such as pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location and referring site, through Google Analytics and cookies.
Advertising
This site may show ads served by Google and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google’s My Ad Center, and opt out of some other vendors’ use of cookies for personalized ads at aboutads.info. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked before any advertising cookies are used. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Buyer Signal (price tracker)
Buyer Signal, our price tracker, records publicly listed prices from manufacturers’ stores. It does not collect any information about you.
Price alerts and launch alerts
If you set a price alert or ask to be notified about an upcoming product, we store your email address, the product, your target price, the page you signed up on and, if you arrived from a tagged link (for example a YouTube video description), the campaign it came from. We use this only to send that alert, which goes out through our email delivery provider, Resend. The alert form also has a newsletter box, ticked by default. If you leave it ticked, Kit emails you a link to confirm, and you are only subscribed once you click it. You can untick it to get just the alert, and the two choices are stored separately. You can ask us to delete your alerts at any time by emailing privacy@tinkersignal.com.
Embedded posts
Some Coming Soon entries can show a post from X (formerly Twitter). Nothing is loaded from X until you click to show the post. If you do, X loads its own content and may set cookies under its own privacy policy. The homepage can also show a YouTube video. Its preview picture comes from YouTube’s image server, and YouTube’s player (from youtube-nocookie.com) only loads when you press play.
Signup counts
To see which pages and videos bring in newsletter readers, we count signups by page and campaign. These counts do not include your email address.
Who handles your information
- Rocket.net hosts the site. Like any web server, it records basic request information such as your IP address, browser and the page you asked for, to run and protect the site.
- Kit (ConvertKit) stores newsletter subscribers and sends the newsletter.
- Resend sends price and launch alert emails.
- Google provides Google Analytics and, when ads are on, the ads.
We don’t sell your email address or other personal information, and we only share it with these services so they can do the job described here.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Alerts: until you ask us to delete them. Unsubscribing from an alert stops the emails; to have the record removed as well, email privacy@tinkersignal.com.
- Emails you send us: as long as we need them to reply and keep track of the conversation.
- Analytics: under the retention setting in our Google Analytics account.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
- If you’re in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics and advertising cookies stay off unless you agree to them. When the site shows ads, you’ll see a consent message where you can make or change that choice.
- Wherever you live, you can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing privacy@tinkersignal.com.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, for example by signing up for the newsletter or a price alert, email privacy@tinkersignal.com and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change.
